No. Lollipop has widgets. They're just hidden really, really well. To save others the trouble of looking for how to install a widget on your version of Android, and save you from clicking on dozens of how to articles, I've tried to gather all the methods here.
Various methods of adding widgets in Lollipop, Kitkat and Jellybean:
- If you long press on an available space on the home screen, it will throw up a little menu mentioning wallpaper and stuff. Click on add widget.
- If you have a menu button on your phone, press it at the home screen and look for an option to add a widget.
- Pinch the home screen and a menu might show up in a bottom corner.
- On the home screen, click on whatever symbol brings up all your installed apps. At the top left, it might say, "APPS" and "WIDGETS". Click on WIDGETS.
